Steelcase Inc. (NYSE:SCS), the world's preeminent designer and manufacturer of products used to create high-performance work environments has implemented webPUBLISH for i2 TradeMatrix® at its Toronto facility. Pelyco's best-of-breed solution will provide a key final component to the major supply chain reengineering initiative Steelcase began in 1999. Steelcase becomes the first known company in North America to have implemented this level of real-time, integrated supply chain visibility.
Steelcase's ability to foster innovation at all levels of the organization has resulted in the development of breakthrough ideas and concepts that have created a new standard within its Markham operation. On-time delivery to customers is a key performance metric for the entire operation and with webPUBLISH everyone in the operation has instant access to not only the manufacturing plan but also to how well that plan is being executed. webPUBLISH is being used to tie together the i2 Factory Planner® system and the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) system to provide real-time compliance reporting metrics.
According to Scott Campbell, Pelyco's Senior Steelcase Project Manager, "webPUBLISH enables complete visibility into manufacturing performance that is necessary for maintaining Steelcase's industry leadership. With webPUBLISH, Steelcase can manage supplier performance, react to demand changes, and more efficiently enhance their customers' business performance. By exceeding customers' needs better than competitors, Steelcase can expect to gain market share and expand margins. Pelyco's implementation methodology and responsiveness allowed us to move very quickly from concept to deployment."
Steelcase expect's to achieve significant business benefit on an on-going basis. Given the current economic outlook, efficiency and productivity are the key metrics within the organization where it is anticipated webPUBLISH to have its greatest impact. The focus is on ensuring both the fastest possible response to customer requests and satisfactory delivery. The webPUBLISH solution will play a central role in the Steelcase project to create a collaborative, flexible supply-chain planning environment through increased supply chain visibility.
